Endometrial ablation can be performed to alleviate abnormal bleeding caused by endometriosis, uterine masses, uterine cancer or hormonal irregularities. This minimally-invasive procedure is the process of eliminating the lining of the uterus and requires no incisions. It can be accomplished using heat or extreme cold as well as via high-energy radiofrequencies or microwave technology. Depending on the patient’s specific medical condition and the form of endometrial ablation chosen, it is possible to have the procedure done right in your doctor’s office, with no hospital stay whatsoever.

At East Pasco Women’s Care, our OB-GYNs have ample experience performing endometrial ablation. If this is your recommended treatment, they will communicate with you at length regarding your options and future goals with regard to family planning; note that women who plan to have children at some point in the future are generally NOT good candidates for the procedure due to its impacts on fertility and fetal development. While the intended results of endometrial ablation may take several months to become fully apparent, this treatment method has proven quite effective in addressing abnormally heavy blood flow during a woman’s menstrual cycle.

Please contact us at 813.782.8761 for more information on endometrial ablation or to discuss other minimally invasive gynecologic procedures we offer.
